Hair forks are great hair accessories that cerate secure and elegant hairstyles that are comfortable to wear all day long - they're also kind to your hair, helping to avoid breaks and kinks!
With a little practice, you will be able to easily style your hair ready for a busy work day or special occasion - Gold hammered brass hair forks are a perfect unique option for brides and bridesmaid hair styles.
Will a hair fork hold my hair?
Yes! hair forks and sticks are simple but when you know how to use them, are very secure in thicker or thinner hair - its all in the twist!
Hair forks usually come in different lengths, ranging from 10-15cm long. The shorter hair forks are great to secure a smaller amount of hair, such as a half-up half down style or small bun for thinner hair. The longer lengths are perfect for holding thicker amounts of hair in a French twist and bun style. In the videos below, I show you how I use a 12cm long hammered brass hair fork in my medium thick hair which is past my shoulders. Its quick to pop up and very secure.
Step-by-step for a French twist hairstyle:
- Gather your hair in a ponytail at the bottom of your neck
- Slowly twist the hair in a anti-clockwise direction upwards towards the top of your head
- Make a loop with the end of the ponytail and tuck it under the French twist you have just made
- Hold the top of the hair twist in place with your left hand
- Hold the hair fork in your right hand with the design facing your hair and push the 2 ends of the hair fork through the top of the hair loop you have just made
- Rotate the hair fork upwards and then back down in the opposite direction, gently catching some hair underneath the loop
- Push all the way through the hair until the 2 prongs come though the other side of the twist
- You have now pinned the hair to your head!
Half-up hairstyle with a barrette and stick
A lovely simple hairstyle you can create in under a minute! I'm using a 5cm pebble barrette in the video above.
- Gather a top section of hair and gently make a twist
- Place the barrette on top of the twist
- Place your stick to the right inner part of the barrette and push your stick through and under the hair
- Secure by pushing the stick up and over the left inner side of the barrette
- Depending on how much hair you gathered under the barrette piece, will determine how loose or tight it is pinned
With a little bit of practice, using these hair accessories are really fun and comfortable - goodbye kinks and hair pulling bobbles! hello smooth hair and gentle waves!
There are many other styles you can create with hair forks, sticks and barrettes - I really love making these, and will be adding many more designs to my collections
I hope this was a helpful guide, and I hope you have lots of fun trying out new hairstyles!
